THE HAIRCUT THAT MAKES YOU HOTTER

Spoiler alert: if you’re chasing a broccoli-esque mane, experimenting wildly with your hair, or going through a full-blown midlife crisis with bleaching and all… we love it, but this isn’t the blog for you.

Today we’re talking about haircuts you can actually ask your barber for if you want to look undeniably masculine and attractive. Don’t shoot the messenger—we didn’t make the rules.

WHAT MAKES A GUY’S HAIR ATTRACTIVE

For a haircut to boost your looks, you want three things:

  1. A balanced face. Yep, we said the face. Generally, people’s eyes scan the “whole picture” first, not strand by strand like you do in the mirror.

  2. Defined features. A touch of angles, clean lines, a bit of Nordic He-Man vibes… but don’t overdo it. We’ll unpack that in a sec.

  3. Natural vibe. Shouldn’t look overthought—like it was tossed together without much effort (note: should appear like that).

With that in mind, what you ask your barber depends mainly on your face shape:

THE HAIRCUT THAT SUITS YOU, BASED ON YOUR FACE SHAPE

FACE TYPE GOAL WHAT TO ASK YOUR BARBER WHAT TO AVOID
ROUND Slim down, i.e., “lengthen” rather than widen Shorter on the sides, slightly longer on top—don’t go mad—so your face doesn’t look wider Side volume—means more trips to the barber
LONG Balance out the length Not too much height on top, sides not shaved off completely—so your face doesn’t look even longer Sky-high hairstyles
ANGULAR / SQUARE Soften those Greek god vibes Avoid super-straight, military lines; opt for longer layers that let your fringe move Geometric cuts

OVAL / BALANCED

Most common—time to tidy up & enhance Keep it consistent (long on top? don’t shave sides. Short sides? avoid giant quiffs) Extreme trends that look great in pics but suck day-to-day

Alright, basics sorted, let’s level up and bust some myths about stuff we do “to hide things” that actually backfires:

WHAT NOT TO DO (AND WHAT TO DO) WITH YOUR HAIR

🟢 FINE HAIR

Don’t: Try to fake density with wax or gel—it flattens fine hair, kills movement, looks stiff, and loses the natural vibe.

Do: Use light styling creams, soft lotions, or airy pastes. Let it move naturally—goal is effortless, not helmeted.

🟢 RECEDING HAIRLINE

Don’t: Cover it with long hair, forced fringes, or over-strategic strands—it draws attention and the hair tends to separate, exposing more of the forehead.

Do: Keep it short all over, tidy sides, controlled length on top, styled along the natural growth. People notice the whole picture first, not the detail.

🟢 GREY HAIR

Don’t: Try to “look younger” with crazy contrasts (shaved sides, massive volume on top)—it usually reads as fake.

Do: Either go fully short if you want to mask it, or flaunt it proudly. Maybe a subtle grey-touch-up, but nothing that screams “I’m colouring this with a marker.”

MAINTENANCE THAT MAKES IT WORK

A good cut helps, but healthy hair is what actually makes it hold up day-to-day. No need for a product circus in the bathroom, but you’ll notice the difference if you invest in:

  • A decent shampoo suited to your hair type

  • One good styling product (light for fine hair, more control for thick)

  • Optional: a treatment that strengthens hair from the root

That’s why at SIWON we created Follicool: a clever way to keep your hair strong so everything else—cut, style, vibe—works better. 😉
