WHICH COSMETIC INGREDIENT WOULD YOU BE AT CHRISTMAS DINNER?

🎄🍗✨

Christmas is a time for family dinners turned into parades of unique and lovable characters. They’re your family/friends/colleagues, sure, but they’re also universal archetypes that likely inspired the Greek tragicomedies. Today we wonder: If you were a cosmetic ingredient at Christmas dinner, which one would you be?

1. YOUR MOM – NIACINAMIDE
😎✨

She’s everywhere: optimistic, cooking, serving, cheering everyone on, cleaning up, giving it her all at post-dinner bingo or karaoke… all while ensuring everyone gets their bite and enjoys themselves. Your mom, like niacinamide, is a multitasker who excels at everything: reducing inflammation, regulating oil production (though holiday feasting increases your body fat, let’s be honest), improving skin texture, and calming redness during heated political debates. She’s that ingredient that gets along with everyone, always bringing something positive to the table. Plus, niacinamide is so versatile that it combines well with almost any other ingredient, even the more "dramatic" ones like the next.

2. THE DRAMA QUEEN COUSIN/AUNT – RETINOL 👑🔥

We all have that cousin or aunt who shows up at Christmas dinners with a new, twist-filled story: a new boyfriend, her latest trip, or a radical life project (and if you don’t have one… it’s probably you). She’s intense, sometimes overwhelming, but Christmas dinner wouldn’t be the same without her.

In cosmetics, this cousin is retinol. Retinol enters your skincare routine with a bang and may cause a bit of a stir at first. The initial encounters can be explosive, with some irritation or dryness, but once you adapt, the results are incredible. It keeps you youthful by combating wrinkles, heals acne scars and spots, and generally rejuvenates your skin. She’s all in, adding tons of value to both the Christmas table and your complexion.

3. THE STORYTELLER GRANDPA – VITAMIN C 🧡🌞

The grandpa or relative who always shares stories from the past is someone who’s lived countless lives and from whom you always learn something new. He’ll probably tell a story you were in but don’t even remember. Though he might seem stuck in tradition at times, he’s timeless—just like vitamin C in cosmetics.

Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that fights free radicals and gives your skin a healthy glow and firmness. It’s the classic that never goes out of style, always with its special touch. That youthful glow and energy we all want for our skin and our lives. But like grandpa, vitamin C needs special care: keep it away from heat and light so it doesn’t oxidize and stays fully effective.

4. THE REBELLIOUS TEENAGER – SALICYLIC ACID 🤘🕺

We all know the teenager who spends the dinner in a corner, glued to their phone with a rebellious attitude, but who’s really just navigating their phase in life. In the cosmetics world, this cousin is salicylic acid.

Salicylic acid is the rebel who dives straight into pores, unclogging and clearing impurities. It doesn’t hold back and goes STRAIGHT to the point (literally). Ideal for oily, acne-prone skin, this ingredient gets deep into the pores, works hard, and is essential for maintaining balance in troubled skin.

5. THE KNOW-IT-ALL BROTHER-IN-LAW – PEPTIDES 👨🏽🔬🧪

The one who could be a meteorologist, top-tier coach, and political commentator all in one. For every problem, he has a simple, straightforward solution—just like peptides.

Peptides send signals to cells to produce whatever’s needed: elastin, collagen, carving the turkey, or serving beer. They’re the go-to solution for everything. Though their fancy names and technical talk might make them seem untrustworthy at first, once you get to know them, you’ll find them lovable and eager to please. They’re harmless, never causing irritation or trouble.

6. AND YOU? WHO WOULD YOU BE?

Absorbent like hyaluronic acid? Calm and collected like centella asiatica? Or encapsulated like a liposomal active ingredient, locked away and counting the hours to break free after dinner? Whoever you are, in cosmetics and at Christmas dinners, we just wish you to keep shining with your best face forward.
